Cool Car Feature

Our new 2009 Chevy Impala is equipped with On Star. It is the first time we have had this kind of feature in our car. This afternoon we tried it out to see how it worked. I wasn't expecting anything fancy at all. When my hubby pushed the button, it rang and a woman on the other line answered the call. At first I thought it would be a recorded voice but I was wrong. I couldn't believe we were talking to a live person. I was surprised because, based on my experienced here in the US, when you make a phone call, especially to a business establishment, you first get a recorded message before you can speak to a live representative. I tried to talk to a machine once before but it couldn't understand me. My hubby ended up finishing my conversation with the machine. Anyway, to make a long story short, my hubby had a conversation with a woman from On Star directly from our car. As a matter of fact, we can receive phone calls in our car and talk hands-free. Our car has a built in telephone. Like any other telephone, we also need to buy minutes to make phone calls but we had thirty days free and then we need to start buying minutes.
