Buying Another House

My hubby and I have been thinking about buying another house there in my native country, the Philippines. I don't know if that is a good idea or not. When I was still living there, I had never heard much about banks giving mortgages so I assumed that they were quite rare. They probably did exist to some point because if you go in the local bank branches they always have a bulletin board with lists of houses that have been foreclosed on and are available for sale. I recently checked it online also and found the same information on some of the local bank websites.

We are currently in the US and the reason for buying another house in the Philippines is that because we are planning on spending half of the time there and half here. We are not going to buy a house yet on our coming trip this fall but we will be doing a lot of shopping. I did some research and I found out that mortgage interest rates from the banks are a little bit lower than the land developer in a subdivision. In many cases, land developer in a subdivision can self-finance the house for you.

We are probably going to rent a place first and have my hubby get the feel of the location. Besides the mortgage rates from the bank are kind of still high. If we could really find a house that is hard to pass up, we probably buy it cash. That is just a thought but we really don't have that much stashed so it must be a really, really good deal.

I have never been to South Carolina but I would like to visit that place if given a chance. If that would happen I am looking forward to the possibility of staying at one of the ocean front Myrtle Beach resorts. The Myrtle Beach resorts are the kind of place that I want for a fun beach side vacation. I saw the family of my hubby's relatives vacationing there and found out that Myrtle resorts have white sugar sand beach.

If my hubby and I decide to take a vacation somewhere here in the US, Myrtle Beach seaside resort would be at the top of our list. Unfortunately, that won't be happening anytime soon because we already have a planned trip abroad later this year. We are planning to go to the Philippines and that trip is kind of expensive so we have to save up money. That means no long trips before that.

My Stress Reliever

My niece in Germany is my new stress reliever. Before it was food and television. Almost everyday I am able to chat with her. She is just two years old but she knows how to make me laugh. Her dancing and singing can give me a good laugh. She is so cute. She speaks three different languages. Yes, she is multilingual. She speaks Deutsch, English and Bisaya. If she doesn't know the word in Deutsch, she uses the English word. She is a smart girl. She can count numbers 1-10 already mix in two different languages, Deutsch and English. She can also read a few words and alphabet letters.

I have two nieces but I seldom get a chance to talk to my niece in Colorado because we can't get a hold with each online. My sister won't get online until later in the afternoon which is my time to start working. My niece in Germany and I usually talk in the morning when I am still trying to wake myself up. Morning here in the US is afternoon there in Germany.

My sister and I bought my younger brother an electric guitar. That was our Christmas present to him a couple of years ago. He had been asking for it for quite a while and we finally gave in. Instead of buying it here in the US and having it shipped to the Philippines, we sent him cash so he could buy it there. That way we saved money on shipping and he could buy the electric guitar that he wanted. The money that we sent was not enough to buy a really good amplifier so he might be in need of an upgrade in that area. Maybe the next time we go over there, we can look for a nice randall amplifier that would make his guitar sound a lot better.

Buying a new house can be stressful but if you’ve got a great support system like I do it’s not that bad. My brothers were totally there for me when I asked them to help me move and my mom’s been wonderful helping me pack and unpack and all that. Lawn Mower Needs to be Fixed

There are quite a few things that my hubby needs to fix soon. The lawn mower is one of them. It broke down last year just before the summer ended. The grass in our yard is already green and it will need to be mowed soon. My hubby hasn't started fixing the lawn mower yet and we don't know if he will be able to fix it by himself or not. I am hoping that he can so that we can save money on the repair. Otherwise we will have to take it to the dealer at a nearby town. I am hoping that we will get some warm weather next week so that my hubby can start working on our lawn mower. The weather this week has been a little bit cold and that's the reason the repair has been put off.

I have never thought about putting garden gnomes in my garden until just recently. Now that I think about it, it sounds like a really good idea because we have a lot of critters that come in and eat or dig up our garden. Maybe the gnomes would act like scare crows and keep the critters away. I don't know if it would work or not but certainly it is worth a try. If nothing else they could be an interesting and attractive decoration.

Most of the electrical switchplates and outlet covers we have at home are made of a cheap plastic. My hubby has already replaced the ones in the living room with nice oak wood switch plates to match the baseboards and door trim in the rest of the room. I like the idea of replacing the switch plates in the other rooms to match the decor there because it is a quick and easy way to improve the look and feel of the whole house. The gold switch plate covers match the door handles of most of our rooms and I find them very attractive. We will be changing them all eventually as we continue to remodel our house.

We have been thinking about buying a safe for our home for sometime now. We really don't have a good place to keep our valuable papers and other things like my hubby's guns and a few valuables. We don't have much crime or break-ins in this area but a safe would give us some peace of mind in case the unexpected would happen. The biggest risk we probably have here is the chance of a forest fire burning down our home. Even though we have insurance, there are some things like pictures and personal items that you can't put a value on.

My hubby has looked at a good sized upright Homak Gun Safe that is both fire proof and would be big enough to hold his guns and other irreplaceable items. The safe was only a few hundred dollars and that would be worth the peace of mind it would bring even if the safe never had to serve its primary function.

Recently we have been thinking more and more that we want to buy or build a new house in the Philippines. Living here in the north country is really great in the summer time but those long cold winters are getting harder and harder to take. We are thinking it would be great to be here for six months of the year and then fly to a nice warm and sunny place like the Philippines to spend the winters. They even have a special name for people here in the north country that do that. They are called "snow birds".

We have been looking at a lot of different places in my native country in the area where my family and friends reside. We haven't found exactly what we are looking for yet and we may just decide to buy a piece of land and have our house built to our own requirements. My hubby is an engineer and I am sure he could come up with a really nice design for exactly the kind of place we would be looking for.

Buying furniture and decorating the place would be my job. I think it would really be a lot of fun to be able to build and decorate a house just the way I like it. I really like contemporary style decorations and modern lighting. I would love to have contemporary chandeliers in both the dining area and the entry foyer of the house. That kind of decoration can make a really positive impression when you first enter the home.
